Rare.A well-illustrated and varied Festschrift for one of Germany's most prominent malacologists, with contributions by Kobelt himself, and by Pallary, von Jhering [Ihering] (two papers), Haas, A. Wagner, Rolle, Schmalz, Geyer, Lindholm, Borcherding, Künkel, Hesse, Simroth, Thiele, Hoyle, Stein, Ehrmann, Jickeli, and Oscar Boettger. All papers deal with continental molluscs (land and fresh-water molluscs) only, except Hoyle's contribution which is on cephalopods, and Stein's (5 p.) which is non-malacological.

Original printed wrappers bound in. From the library of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020), with his stamp on the front free endpaper and title-page. A very good copyA rare bound copy of seldom-seen publication by the German malacologist Wilhelm Kobelt (1840-1916). This forms a part of Kükenthal's Wissenschäftlige Reiseergebnisse of two travels and explorations to the Moluccas and Borneo (Kalimantan) (Indonesia). The fine plates are after original drawings by the author, who was an excellent artist.

1881 (2nd ed.). xvi, 295 p. Contemporary red half calf over marbled boards. Spine with four raised bands, compartments rich gilt, with date and title. Marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. The first edition was published in 1871. This edition contains the author's view on the Eurasian zoogeographical provinces. It lists names, sources (of the original descriptions), and species' distributions, as well as several taxonomical notes. Title page with old French society stamp, small stamp of Herbert Ant and the written name and date of former owner Herbert Lutz. A very nice, bound copy. Rare.

Although the title suggest a more general work, about 75% of it is on land and freshwater molluscs!This copy was first in the private library of Dr. Max Weber (with his name written in free end-paper of volume I and his stamp in vol II). Max Wilhem Carl Weber (1852-1937) was professor in zoology in Amsterdam, and well known as the leader of the famous Dutch Siboga Expedition to Indonesia. This set became later part of the library of the Zoological Museum Amsterdam (with their stamps). Rare.
