"10. London, Longmans, Green, Reader, and Dyer, 1866, in-4°, 26,5 x 21 cm, (20 ) nn pp + 240 pp. With wood-engraved frintispiece printed in black and red, title in red and black, with numerous full page and in-text wood engravings by E.& G. Dalziel, Swain, Cooper a.o. all after John Leighton. All pages printed within a typographical border. Bound in full brown morocco, both covers with large gilt frame decoration with green coloured dragon pattern ; all edges gilt. Binding with some wear at extremeties, tissue-guards slightly spotted. Notwithstanding these defects still a good/fine copy. The epitome of Victorian book design illustrated and produced by the masters in their field. The text-quotes enhance the Victorian feeling as they are not free from patronizing and exhortions. Original and first edition in a good contemporary binding."
