‎En 1985, Elie Wiesel écrivait à Sylvain Vergara : "J'ai lu votre manuscrit, je le trouve bouleversant, vibrant de vérité – il faut le publier". 37 ans plus tard (et 30 ans après la mort de Sylvain Vergara), ce texte est retrouvé et enfin publié. Seul un extrait en avait paru en 1964 dans la revue “Esprit”10. Arrêté en octobre 1943 comme résistant, Sylvain Vergara, âgé de 18 ans, est emprisonné à Fresnes, torturé puis déporté “Nacht und Nebel” en février 1944. Il est l'un des plus jeunes internés non-juifs de Buchenwald dont il devait être libéré le 11 avril 1945. Marqué à vie par cette épreuve, il n'a rien écrit d'autre que ce témoignage, rédigé au tout début des années 1960 alors qu'il désespérait de faire entendre sa voix. Ce texte évoquera probablement à bien des lecteurs “La Nuit” de Wiesel ou “Si c'est un homme” de Primo Levi. Désormais les frais d'envoi sont de 6 € seulement pour les livres jusqu'à 1 kg (colissimo suivi), pour la France métropolitaine.‎
