"In 1939 I started the geological study of the Bragança-Vinhais region, which I was soon forced to suspend. Later, in 1945, I was charged by the Director of the Minas Gerais Development Service, Mr. Engineer António Bernardo Ferreira, to study the rocks and ores of the Bragança-Vinhais region, and to guide and collaborate in the geological survey of this area, which made it possible to continuity of the work he had undertaken. The optical and chemical studies of rocks and ores were carried out at the Mineralogical and Geological Laboratory of the Faculty of Sciences of Porto. The geological survey field work was carried out by Engineer Soares Carneiro, by technical agents Silva Dionísio and Fernandes of Pina, and for me."
