‎Mémoire aptérologique.‎

‎ Strasbourg, Imprimerie de F.G. Levrault, an XII (1804 ) , in-folio, 43 x 30 cm, (8)nn pp + 144 pp + 9 coloured plates depicting several insects (mites) and anatomical details on each plate, bound in 19th century blue half cloth, with marbled boards and endpapers, smooth spine with gilt title. Fine copy notwithstanding the slight soiling of the last three plates due to offsetting of a plant stem which was kept between the leaves. Jean Frédéric Hermann (1768 - 1793) was a French naturalist . His work on the mites was awarded a prize in 1790 by the '' Société d'Histoire Naturelle de Paris''. It was published posthumously by F.L. Hammer. (Rare ouvrage, bien illustré sur les insectes aptères). See Nissen ZBI 1907.‎
