‎Très rare ensemble bien complet réunissant, en 10 tomes reliés en 5 volumes, 30 quatuors de Joseph Haydn (1732-1809). De la bibliothèque du musicologue Claude Chauvel, qui a précisé au crayon les noms des pièces ; dans cette édition, les pages de titre n'indiquaient pas la tomaison, destinées à être rajoutée au crayon par l'acheteur. En 1801, Ignace Joseph Pleyel avait déjà publié la célèbre « Collection complète des quatuors d’Haydn », composée de quelque 80 quatuors. Pleyel fut le premier éditeur à publier des partitions miniatures avec sa collection « Bibliothèque Musicale », commençant par quatre symphonies de son ancien professeur Joseph Haydn en 1802, suivies de ces 10 tomes de partitions des quatuors de Haydn, puis par la musique de chambre de Beethoven, Hummel et Onslow. Le tome 7 mentionne comme éditeur Richault (qui s'établira comme éditeur en 1810) et ne contient pas le feuillet de faux-titre mentionnant la collection "Bibliothèque Musicale" ; la gravure du titre est identique, à l'exception du nom de l'éditeur, de la mention du prix et de la tomaison. Bon ensemble (un cahier faible avec petite mouill. marginale en début du tome 7, très bon état par ailleurs). A very rare collection of 30 quartets by Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) in 10 volumes bound in 5. From the library of musicologist Claude Chauvel, who added the names of the pieces in pencil. In 1801, Pleyel had issued the landmark "Collection complette des quatuors d’Haydn", consisting of some 80 quartets. Pleyel was the first publisher to issue miniature scores (the series "Bibliotheque Musicale"), starting with four symphonies of his former teacher Joseph Haydn in 1802, then with scores of the Haydn quartets and chamber music of Beethoven, Hummel and Onslow. "Complete sets of this edition are very rare. They are generally reorganised as the first attempt at a pocket score.
