Fine first illustrated edition with 12 beautiful chromolithographic plates mostly on alpine subjects (some on the Rhine). Travels in the Alps and poems inspired by the Alps. The first edition was published without a date likely in 1881, with one xylographic plate only ‘Pension Wengen’ and in a different binding. This book was edited by Havergal’s sister J. Miriam Crane. The coloured plates in this volume are: The Reichenbach / Rolandseck Rhine / Ehrenbreitstein, Rhine / Heidelberg / Wengen / Vevey (lake Geneva with mountain scenery from-)/ St. Bernard / Rhone Glacier / Aletsch Glacier & Maergelensee / Matterhorn & Rifelsee / Mer de Glace Chamouni / Les grands Mulets & Mont Blanc .The plates are not signed, but are done by Helga von Cramm (as for ‘Life Mosaic’ & ‘Life Chords’).
