The two volumes presents the entire collection of over 750 preliminary sketches for 16th and 17th century cabinet glass paintings, as compiled by the Swiss artist, Johann Emanuel Wyss (1782-1837). Volume I focuses on Aarau, Aarburg, Basel and the early 17th century Bernese artists. Volume II considers the work of the later 17th century Bernese artists and that of artists from Biel, Schaffhausen, Zurich and foreign masters eg. Baldung Grien and Weiditz. With a list of watermarks. Text in German.
