‎ Édition originale de la seizième oeuvre composée par Händel: Flavio, re de' Langobardi. Elle fut publiée deux mois après la première représentation qui eut lieu à Londres le 14 mai 1723, ou Händel occupait le poste de directeur musical à la Royal Academy of Music, nouvellement créée en 1720. Après la page de titre se trouve la reproduction d'un privilège royal garantissant à Haendel les droits exclusifs d'impression et de distribution de ses œuvres. Au début de chaque aria est mentionné le nom du chanteur qui l'a interprétée lors de la première représentationPremière distribution: Guido: Francesco Bernardi, dit "Senesino" (castrato); Emilia: Francesca Cuzzoni (soprano); Flavio: Gaetano Berenstadt (castrato); Vitige: Margherita Durastanti (soprano); Teodata: Anastasia Robinson (contralto); Lotario: Giuseppe Maria Boschi (basse); Ugone: Alexander Gordon (ténor).C'est peut-être lors des répétitions de Flavio qu'a eu lieu la célèbre anecdote où le ténor écossais Alexander Gordon, connu pour son tempérament fougueux, s'est plaint de la manière dont Haendel l'accompagnait et a menacé de sauter sur le clavecin du maestro. Le compositeur lui aurait répondu : « Oh ! Faites-moi savoir quand vous comptez le faire et j'en ferai la publicité.
