Amsterdam Het Centraal Comité voor Oostenrijksche Arbeiderskinderen in Nederland 1922 Première édition. Bel exemplaire de ce recueil de 11 illustrations lithographiques à pleine page. Elles dépeignent la misère à Meidling et Floridsdorf (deux banlieues de Vienne). Introduction d'Edo Fimmen, syndicaliste de gauche. Albert Hahn Jr. était un caricaturiste et affichiste socialiste des Pays-Bas. Couvertures en papier souple avec reliure cousue. Les bords sont marqués et légèrement fendus. Les couvertures sont assez propres mais un peu assombries. L'intérieur est propre mais le bord supérieur est assombri. Caricatures évocatrices montrant la souffrance des travailleurs industriels, en particulier parmi les jeunes. Accompagné d'une lettre de l'un des 50 sous-comités du Comité voor Oostenrijksche Arbeiderskinderen in Nederland. Ce comité a été créé par le Parti ouvrier social-démocrate (SDAP), en coopération avec la Confédération internationale des syndicats et la Confédération néerlandaise des syndicats en 1920. Après la Première Guerre mondiale, l'Autriche a connu une grande pauvreté. Le comité a pris des dispositions pour que des milliers d'enfants souffrant de malnutrition puissent se rendre aux Pays-Bas et séjourner dans des familles d'accueil pendant une période pouvant aller jusqu'à 12 semaines afin de reprendre des forces. 320 x 250 mm (12œ x 9Ÿ pouces).
First edition. Nice copy of this collection of 11 full-page lithographic illustrations. They depict the misery in Meidling and Floridsdorf (both suburbs of Vienna). Introduction (In Dutch) by Edo Fimmen, the left-wing trade unionist. Albert Hahn Jr. was a socialist cartoonist and poster artist from the Netherlands. Soft paper covers with sewn binding. Nicking to the edges, and slight splitting to the edges. The covers are quite clean but a touch darkened. Internally clean throughout with the top edge darkened. Evocative caricatures showing suffering of industrial workers, particularly amongst the young. Accompanied by a letter from one of the 50 sub committees of the Comité voor Oostenrijksche Arbeiderskinderen in Nederland. The committee was created by the Social Democratic Workers Party (SDAP), in cooperation with the International Confederation of Trade Unions and the Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions in 1920. Following the First World war there was much poverty in Austria. The committee arranged for thousands of malnourished children to travel to the Netherlands and stay with foster families for up to 12 weeks to regain their strength. 320 by 250mm (12œ by 9Ÿ inches). .
