‎The uncommon first edition of Gouge's commentary on psalm 116 which in protestant Christianity often is referred to as the thanksgiving psalm. Pastor William Gouge (1575–1653) was an English clergyman and theologian known for his work during the Jacobean and Caroline eras. He was a prominent Puritan and a strong advocate for the Presbyterian form of church government. Gouge played a significant role in the development of Puritan theology and was actively involved in the religious and political debates of his time. Gouge's writings cover a range of topics, including theology, family life, and church government.‎
