Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd. Shipbuilders Linthouse Glasgow - Elders & Fyffes Shipping Ltd. - S.S. CHANGUINOLA :
Reference : 39344
" Linthouse Glasgow, Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd. Shipbuilders - Elders & Fyffes Shipping Ltd, September 1957, album, oblong in-folio, 30 x 40 cm, blue cloth with gilt title on front cover ; contains 30 original photographs size 237 x 298 mm, mounted on stiff boards, with carefully calligraphed captions, one title page with calligraphed title (made for the shipbuilders, it mentions them as builders and Elders & Fyffes as owners). This beautiful and well preserved album was obviously made upon the completion of the ship. It shows overall views and many details of cabins, decks and the banana bins. The Changuinola was a purpose built banana ship with a limited number of passenger cabins. It was the second ship with this name owned by Fyffes. Tons 6293. In 1970 it was transferred to '' Empressa Hondurena de Vapores S.A. '' at Puerto Cortez, renamed Omoa. It was scrapped in 1975. The large fine photographs give an excellent idea of the equipment and interior decorations of this passengers carrying cargo ship. A few years after its launching the passenger cabin facility became obsolete due to the appearence of the jetliner.."
