‎Fourteen albumen prints of a tour of the Middle East ‎

‎Various Frith, Bonfils & Zangaki C1880 Une belle collection de 14 tirages albumine collés sur 12 cartes rigides, retraçant un voyage au Moyen-Orient. Dix des photographies sont de grand format [21 cm x 27 cm] et quatre sont de format plus petit [15,5 cm x 20,5 cm]. Toutes les photographies sont en bon état, lumineuses et bien définies en noir et blanc, avec juste une légère trace de rousseur. Le carton de support est légèrement foncé et présente davantage de rousseurs. Le verso de chaque carte est vierge (à l'exception des annotations au crayon 2B). Une photographie plutôt charmante, qui montre le bateau que les frères utilisaient lors de leurs excursions sur le canal (ils le partageaient avec Arnoux). Sur le pont se trouvait une chambre noire portable, clairement visible sur cette photographie. On aperçoit également un homme en train de prier sur la plage. (9) Alger. Anonyme, vers 1880. Une très belle collection de photographies touristiques anciennes. La plupart sont d'origine française, mais la présence des photographies de Frith, l'inclusion de Gibraltar et la provenance de la collection nous permettent de penser qu'il s'agit d'un voyageur britannique.‎

‎A nice collection of 14 albumen prints pasted onto 12 stiff album cards, recording a trip to the Middle East. Ten of the photographs are large format [21cm x 27cm] and four are in a smaller format [15.5cm x 20.5cm.] All of the photographs are in good, bright and well defined black and white condition, with just a touch of foxing to them. The backing card is a little darkened and more heavily foxed. The verso of each is blank (apart from our 2B pencil annotated information). These are made up of: (1) The Rock of Gibraltar. A rather lovely photograph, which shows the boat that the brothers used during trips on the canal (They shared it with Arnoux). Mostly French in origin, but from the presence of the Frith photographs, the inclusion of Gibraltar, and the provenance of the collection, we believe it to be a British traveller. .‎
