Bound in contemporary half leather, marbled boards and fly leaves. A rare complete fine copy with the usual minor stains and wear. Cicognara, Berlin Ornament Katalog, Brunet and Kissner Collection all have a lesser number of plates. First edition, one of the rarest and most attractive of Percier and Fontaine books. It illustrates 24 villas with their gardens. All the most important Roman villas are included ; Villa Albani, Medici, Barberini, Borghese, Farnesiana, Madama, D'Este...."
