Kunst in België na 1975 is het langverwacht en monumentaal vervolg op het in 1983 door het Mercatorfonds gepubliceerde Kunst in België na 1945 onder leiding van Karel J. Geirlandt. Veel is sindsdien veranderd: een nieuwe generatie kunstenaars heeft zich aangemeld en heeft, meer nog dan haar voorgangers, de weg gevonden naar de internationale kunstscène. Gezien het korte tijdsbestek en het sinds het einde van de jaren 1970 heersende stijlpluralisme, opteerde Florent Bex ervoor in 'Kunst in België na 1975' verschillende specialisten - waaronder Michel Baudson, Michel Draguet, Johan Pas, Katrien Laenen en Lieven Van den Abeele - vanuit diverse visies en oogpunten thematische bijdragen te laten schrijven. De uitgebreide chronologie die achteraan in het boek is opgenomen biedt voor deze bijdragen het onontbeerlijke referentiekader. 'Kunst in België na 1975' is een uiterst relevant boek dat een ware aanwinst betekent voor al wie geïnteresseerd is in de hedendaagse kunst.

Clothes and dolls, for example, suggest the existence of their owner, without the latter ever being visible. The moment caught in time, which is the picture, hides the reasons and purpose of the action which is depicted. Guy Van Bossche only shows part of the story - the intrigued viewer is left behind. The ambiguity of what is missing puts into question the obviousness of the painted picture.
