Édition originale de cet ouvrage qui rend compte des bien curieuses expériences auxquelles se livra le zoologiste écossais James Cossar Ewald (1851-1933) dans sa propriété de Penicuik (Midlothian) en accouplant des zèbres et des chevaux dans le but de créer une espèce d'animal de trait adapté aux conditions climatiques et nosologiques de l'Afrique du Sud.Seulement deux exemplaires au CCF (Rennes et Nancy).
