Abraham Elzas (1835-1880) est né aux Pays-Bas. Il a exercé les fonctions de rabbin et d'enseignant à Leeds, puis s'est installé à Hull en 1871, où il est également devenu directeur des écoles juives locales. ‎First edition. A scarce critical text of the Book of Job. Original red buckram boards with gilt titles to the front board. The edges are a little bumped and quite darkened but still sound. Yellow end papers. Internally clean but with a little darkening. Abraham Elzas (1835-1880) was born in Holland. He served as minister and teacher in Leeds, and in 1871 moved to Hull where he also became superintendent of the local Jewish schools. He translated several of the books of the Old Testament.
