At head of first page: Au nom de la République française.These elections, following the Coup of 18 Fructidor year V (4 September 1797), resulted in a majority of former Jacobins and provoked the Coup of 22 Floréal year VI (11 May 1798). A major part of the elections were declared invalid and, although the candidates of the government were in the minority, they were declared elected.
