‎Édimbourg et Londres, William Blackwood, 1881 grand in-8, [6] ff. n. ch., 268 pp., avec des illustrations en noir dans le texte, maroquin cerise, dos à nerfs orné de pointillés, filets et caissons dorés, encadrement de triple filet doré sur les plats, double filet doré sur les coupes, tête dorée, large encadrement de guirlande et filets dorés sur les contreplats (Zaehnsdorf). Petites salissures blanches sur les deux plats.‎


‎La première édition de cette belle version illustrée fut donnée en 1863 par Blackwood (mais l'originale du texte remonte à 1848, "printemps des peuples"). Elle réunit les poèmes inspirés par les épisodes les plus marquants de l'histoire écossaise au poète William Edmondstoune Aytoun (1813-1865), grand admirateur de la maison de Stuart, et nostalgique de la grandeur passée de sa patrie.Ex-dono daté du 20 novembre 1924 (donataire et donateur peu lisibles).Bel exemplaire dans une reliure signée de William Joseph Zaehnsdorf (1853-1930), auteur de The Art of Bookbinding: a practical treatise, fils et successeur de Joseph Zaehnsdorf (1816-1886), relieur autrichien fixé à Londres à partir de 1837.
