Door hun mecenaat en kosmopolitische visie werd het Brusselse hof een model voor andere Europese vorstenhuizen en ontstond een bloei van kunst, cultuur en diplomatie. De catalogus documenteert deze periode aan de hand van kunstwerken, archiefstukken en historische analyses en toont de verhouding van Albrecht en Isabella ten opzichte van belangrijke kunstenaars zoals Pieter Paul?Rubens.
