First latin edition. A translation of Dilich's German edition of 1640 ""Peribologia oder Bericht Wilhelmi Dilichij Hist: Von Vestungs gebewen"". Dilich is the best-known German writer on fortification of his time, he had studied at Cassel and at the University of Marburg. Von Qualiteten undt Beschaffenheit des Orts. - 2. Von Bevestigung [= Befestigung] sowohl der Lager als Stätte [Städte] und Schlösser (sur la fortification des places, 300 gravures, dont une à double page en dépliant). - 3. Von der Castrametatione oder Lagerschlagen (sur l'attaque des places, 110 gravures).Wilhelm Schäfer ou Schöfer, dit Wilhelm Dilich (1571-1650), aux nombreuses compétences techniques, fut au départ employé par le landgrave de Hesse-Cassel, mais il se mit, à partir de mars 1625, au service de l'Électeur Jean-Georges Ier de Saxe (1585-1656), qui lui confia entre autres la construction des places fortes de ses États.
