Bookplate: Horace Walker (The Walker Family Crest, with devise: juncti valemus. Hw. note: The Walker family were perhaps the most famous family of mountaineers in the Golden Age of mountaineering) + Exlibris Peter E. Obergfell, Original clothbound, slight traces of use, gilt image on front-cover (mountaineer). In all a fine copy.
Fist edition. In this first edition the ‘Marmolata’ came up with at least 4 different spellings and for the ‘Eisach, Eisack or Eisak’ these 3 diff. spellings were given. ‘Rather exaggerated accounts of fairly unremarkable climbs. The reviewer in the Alpine Journal noted with some satisfaction that the book had been advertised by one magazine under the heading of ‘FICTION’ (?). (Neate).
