Mark Verstockt | Genesis and development of a form language monograph Mark Verstockt (1930-2014) played an essential role in the Belgian post-war art scene. Starting from the fifties, his work fits in with the European New Tendencies and the ZERO movement, which became evident through Verstockt?s inclusion in the exposition ?Monochrome Malerei? in Leverkusen, the first big ZERO manifestation in 1960. During the mid-sixties, Verstockt attained a geometrical visual language which was a constant motif in his work from that point onwards. He became a respected defender of Minimal Art, with a preference of the square.

The whole series of "Multiples & Editions" realized by Guillaume Bijl corresponds to his installations of a certain period: posters, small compositions, some "Sorry's" or tableaux vivants . Often, these multiples were created as an annex of temporary installations, or with the motivation to help non-pro t organizations, or to cover the costs. De Antwerpse kunstenaar Guillaume Bijl breekt in de jaren tachtig internationaal door met zijn 'transformatie-installaties'. Galerie n en musea transformeert hij tot banale en herkenbare commerci le of entertainmentsomgevingen zoals een tapijtenzaak, een supermarkt of een TV-Quizdecor. Daarnaast presenteert hij uitsneden uit de werkelijkheid als 'situatie-installaties' en 'compositions trouv es'. Minder bekend maar wijd verspreid zijn de multipels (kunstwerken in een oplage) die Bijl realiseert. Deze banaal ogende, door de kunstenaar geselecteerde voorwerpen krijgen een volledig andere betekenis wanneer ze als editie in een kunstcontext gepresenteerd worden. Daarnaast ontwierp Bijl ook diverse posters en kunstenaarsboeken in de context van zijn projecten en tentoonstellingen. Deze publicatie is het resultaat van een onderzoeksproject aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen en brengt voor het eerst alle multipels, posters en boeken van Guillaume Bijl samen. Serge Vandercam (1924-2005), Nuclear Times. 1953-1963. In 1957 Serge Vandercam and Piero Manzoni joined Arte Nucleare, the Italian avant-garde movement of Enrico Baj and Sergio Dangelo. It is only one of the highlights of Vandercam's informal period, situated between 1953 and 1963. This lyrical abstract work forms the core of this publication and exhibition, showing the evolution he underwent from Cobra photographer into figurative painter.
