1893 52 p., 2 plates, royal 4to, paperbound (original printed covers). With a lengthy, signed dedication in ink by Cossmann on the front wrapper. Rare.Alexandre Édouard Maurice Cossmann (1850-1924) [he never used his first two names] was the leading expert on Tertiary malacology between 1890-1920. Published in Marchese de Gregorio’s scientific periodical, Annales de Géologie et de Paléontologie, Part 12. De Gregorio had previously written a monograph on the well-preserved Eocene faunas of Alabama. Cossmann’s rare work can be regarded as a supplement. The dedication reads: Hommage de l’auteur, avec prière de ne pas me rendre responsable dans le compte rendu du Journal des erreurs typographiques de l’imprimeur italien qui ont subsisté malgré une correction d’épreuves.
1902 41 p., two phototype plates, paperbound (original printed covers). Some wear on spine. Uncut. A good copy.Offprint from the Bulletin de la Société Géologique de France 4 (2). The fine plates show Triassic gastropods, described by Cossmann (the French geologist Chartron wrote the stratigraphical part). Many are very well preserved, and new.

1904-1913 34 [12 (i), 21] p., 110 [45, 65] plates with explanatory text leaves, folio (32.0 x 25.0 cm). Original printed wrappers.Rare complete set in the original wrappers of this famous atlas of Eocene molluscs (and brachiopods) from the Paris Basin. Mainly from Lutetien, Bartonien and Cusien stages, these faunas are known to be extremely rich and well preserved. A few species are introduced here as valid names, in particular on the last plate of volume 1 "supplément". Around 1900, the French palaeontologist and malacologist [Alexandre Édouard] Maurice Cossmann (1850-1924), was the leading expert on the Eocene Mollusca. He had an enormous amount of material at his disposal which accounts for the quality of the photographed specimens. Pissarro was responsible for the fine photographs. A smaller, printed leaf, "Avis aux souscripteurs" has been added. A few short tears in the wrapper edges, otherwise a very good, clean set.

Société Géologique de France.A fine study of a well-preserved Mesozoic (mid-Jurassic) fauna, by the great French palaeo-malacologist Alexandre Édouard Maurice Cossmann (1850-1924) - he never used his first two names. Includes numerous new species. The plates are drawn by the author, and are excellent - far better than those he made in his later years. Must be rather rare as we never had it before. Spine perished and covers chipped at edges. Contents, however, very good, clean.

1909-1927 221, 211, 204, 696, 369, 202, p., num. figs, 18, 10 pls, 3 maps, a composite incomplete set of the 8vo edition, partly hcloth/cloth, partly paperbound/loose in modern wrappers. Lower right corner of pp.133-148 worn off, but not affecting the text. All treated species were subsequently numbered by the authors, and as page numbers vary as the result of being published in separate parts in journals, it seems better and easier to use the species numbering in this description of the set. The bivalve part consist of the introduction and Bivalve species numbers 1 till 196, and 332-443 and covers groups as Tellinidae, Psammobiidae, Donacidae, Veneridae, Mactridae, Solenidae, Corbulidae, Teredidae, Pholadidae, Thraciidae, Astartidae, Carditidae, Nuculidae Ledidae, Arcidae, etc. and has 28 plates depicting these groups. The gastropod part (including Scaphopods and Polyplacophora) is text only and includes species numbers 1--987.The whole work was published between 1909 and 1932 in separate parts, so complete copies are very rare and seldom offered.
