The map features the region of the Bosphorus, as well as an inset view of the Hellespont looking north to the Sea of Marmora and Constantinople in the distance, decorated with various shields and emblems of the Ottoman Empire, as well as four Turkish men in different costumes. Beneath the map is a large panoramic bird’s-eye view of Constantinople as seen from Scutari. Some contemporary or near contemporary annotations in the beginning of the book, last five lvs with some marginal browning, lower margin of one introductory leaf restored, nice crisp copy. Very well preserved early Parisian edition of the most remarkable law book that the world has seen. (Enc.Britt. 11th V.15/597). Although the book dates from 1538 (at the end is falsely written 1508), the typography is still based on the manuscript tradition; the glosses are neatly printed around a central text part.
