‎New York, Henry Holt & co, 1947. One in-8 volume of 218 x 148 mm, 303 pp. First edition, mention of first printing. Green hardcover, no jacket, title written in gold on the spine with author's and editor's name above and below. Green vertical bands at the double title page. Table of contents at the beginning of the book. An interesting work on American entrepreneurs and the United Fruit company. Written before the smear campaign which tarnished the company's reputation, a true tale of human action and interactions amidst exotic places.‎

Darkened to the spine and with some marks to the boards. Binding is a little shaken, with a slight lean. Pages are a little darkened, with some foxing spots. Errata. Adverts for recent publications to rear. [vi], 351 [i], [4]. pp The author (anonymous here but Charles Townshend Wilson) was with the Coldstream Guards. He purchased his commission in 1839, was an Ensign by 1842, a captain in 1846 and Lt Colonel in 1854. He served at Alma, Balaclava and Inkemann, as well as at the Siege of Sebastapol. He received the Crimea Medal with 4 bars, and retired by sale in 1855. Died in 1887. 200 by 130mm (7Ÿ by 5 inches).‎
