Binding; luxuriously bound gift copy. Bound by the Clarendon Press in Oxford ( signed on the inside of the front cover). Full red crushed morocco, on the front cover a panel stamp with the large coat of arms of the Goldsmiths Company with their motto Justitia, Virtutum, Regine, all gold tooled within a seven fold gilt filleted frame, the backcover has a similar decoration but with a crowned lion's head instead of the arms, top edge gilt, raised gilt spine gilt title and year. Doublure with gold tooled leather border, binding signed at the lower end of the doublure '' bound at Clarendon Press Oxford ''. Tipped in on the inside of the frontcover ; a printed ex-dono of the Company with the name of the receiver added in ink, '' Bertrand Joseph Jennings Tyledesley''. A superb binding in a near perfect condition (but for the slight offsetting of the leather doublure on the fly leaf)."
