‎En juin 1906, Marguerite Burnas-Provins, peintre, écrivain, épouse d'un architecte vaudois, rencontre à Savièse (Valais) un jeune ingénieur, Paul de Kalbermatten. C'est le grand amour. Elle écrit alors Le Livre pour toi, cantique à l'amant donateur de plaisir, qui paraît à Paris en 1907 et connaît plusieurs rééditions. A l'époque, ces cent petits poèmes en prose font scandale : il n'était pas courant qu'une femme (mariée ! ) chante ainsi le corps de son amant et le plaisir amoureux.Aujourd'hui, Le Livre pour toi ne fait plus scandale. Mais il reste l'oeuvre la plus achevée de Marguerite Burnat-Provins et un des plus beaux chants d'amour de la littérature française. ‎
