Text in French. Important tête de collection of this rare periodical which was devoted to the promotion of art in the public space and the safeguarding of ancient momuments and sites of historical intrest. It emanated from the - in hindsight - naive late19th-century social and scientific optimism wich foresaw an impending end to society's problems. In his introduction the president of the Society, E. Broerman, states that he wants ''to combat for an artistic hygiene in all the fields covered by the public domain and to act against bad taste which spoils the public domain''. Importante tête de collection de ce périodique qui était consacré à la promotion de l'art dans l'espace public et à la sauvegarde des monuments anciens et des sites d'intérêt historique. Il émanait de l'optimisme social et scientifique de la fin du XIXe siècle. Dans son introduction, le président de la Société, E. Broerman, déclare vouloir « lutter pour une hygiène artistique dans tous les domaines couverts par le domaine public et agir contre le mauvais goût qui gâche le domaine public ». Parmi son comité de rédaction, on trouve des architectes célèbres tels que L. Cloquet, Edmond Devigne, Victor Horta.

Eugène Broerman was the inspirator of a society for the esthetical improvement of the human environment. This idealistic and typical end of the 19th century movement was founded by him in Brussels. From 1905 onwards he published a periodical called '' L'Art Publique''. He also published several proceedings of international congresses which he organised in Belgium (Brussels, Liège) on his favorite theme. This third congres may be considered as one of the major events which he managed to realise. Apart from leading belgian politicians which had honorary functions at this congres he had also engaged architects such as Victor Horta, Winders, Paul Saintenoy, literary figures such as Pol de Mont , Iwan Gilkin, Henry Hymans etc..
