Didot ainé, 1821, in-folio, 46 x 29,5 cm, half-title + engraved title + xii pp + 40 pp + 1 unnumbered plate + 40 plates (numbered 1-40), bound in contemporary brown half leather, gilt smooth spine, title with some dot like stains, some pages and plates with minor marginal foxing, in all an acceptable copy. Interesting iconography of the first French national museum; ''Le Musée des Monuments Francois''. It received its name in 1795 and was housed in the convent of ''Les Petits-Augustins''. Alexandre Lenoir was its first curator. The collection contained mainly sculpture taken from the abbeys and convents that were destroyed by the Revolution."
