Il est reconnaissant pour l'intérêt des français à la cause de son peuple. Le livre sera bien traduit par Guerlac et publié sous le titre « L'autobiographie d'un nègre » avant de devenir « L'autobiographie d'un noir » (1961) puis « Au-delà de l'esclavage » (1964). [78]
