This extremely popular work on popular-medecine went through many editions and was literaly read to pieces; most of the copies we encounter are in very poor shape. It would be an interesting study to follow all the changes made from the first up to the last edition, a large spectre of popular-medical knowledge through the whole of the 19th century is exposed here.
