Member of the editorial board of Hindi quarterly Anurag. Member of the University Council. Member of the Board of Trustees of Mahatma Gandhi Institute. Made O.B.E. in 1972 for services to urban local government and literature. Made Commandeur de l’Ordre National du Lion by Senegal in 1973.
