This is the Dutch language edition of a book which was also published in English with the title ''Titia : The First Western Woman in Japan '' ; which appeared already in 2003 ( before the Dutch edition) . The book was originally written in Dutch by its author, a descendant of Titia Bersma. She stayed in Deshima ( Nagasaki) for only four months but her image lives on until this day in Japan. The book is accompanied by an interesting , privately produced, documentary which describes the author's search for Titia's traces in Japan and this in the company of his Japanese wife."
