5. Map with 5 mounted photographs, exteriors of the Stuivenberg Hospital Buildings, photos of 28 x 39,5 cm mounted on boards of 48 x 66 cm. The photographs were taken immediately after the completion of the hospital building. They show overall views and parts of buildings of this huge complex. It was designed in 1872-73 by F. Baeckelmans and completed in 1877-84 by J.B. Bilmeyer and J. van Riel. It represents a typical modern 19th-century model of a large hospital with central service buildings and circular wards on two levels. Especially the circular wards were very innovative.
