Interesting description of artists' circles at the time, and the imperial patronage. The author, 1810-1890, a sculptor from Valenciennes (?), published the ""Revue artistique et littéraire"" in the 1860s, and worked at the ""Dictionnaire général des artistes de l'école française"".
