‎Ex-libris gravé de Henri Vanden Block, chapelain de St Michel et de Sainte Gudule de Bruxelles, apposé sur les contreplats. Dos un peu frotté, pièces de titre arrachées. Première édition de ce recueil de traités sur l'histoire de l'Eglise primitive. Epo (1529-1599) était un célèbre jurisconslulte néerlandais. Il enseigna le droit à Douai, pendant 37 ans, de 1562 à sa mort. Adams E-301 ; A. Labarre, Répertoire bibliographique, II, Douai, n° 45.‎

The author, born in Frisia ( Northern Netherlands) studied theology and law in Louvain and Paris. He became law professor at the newly founded Douai University..‎

Binding seriuosly worn, with loss of leather, - only 1/3 rd of the spine leather is still present, both covers with a gilt central ornament, Binding with both joints broken but still holding. First title page dustsoiled and with a paper restoration at the lower margin ( no loss of text), manuscript title in ink on the outer margin. With the manuscript ex-libris of the Jesuit college of Embricae ( Emmerich in German of Emmerik in Dutch). USTC 110946 & USTC 110945 ( First editions ).
