‎Michael Craig-Martin: Less is Still More‎

‎Hentschel, Martin and Michael Craig-Martin: Michael Craig-Martin: Less is Still More. Exhibition: Krefeld, Museum Haus Esters, 2013. 152pp., with 49 colour and 3 black and white illustrations. Hardback. 30 x 24cms. Presents 17 paintings by the British conceptual artist Michael Craig-Martin (b.1941), created in homage to the architect Mies van der Rohe, especially for the Museum Haus Esters in Krefeld. The items depicted are all of an everyday nature, and include a man's shirt, a woman's shoe, an iPhone, a briefcase, a corkscrew, seats, lights and padlocks; referred to by the artist as 'pictorial readymades', they represent Craig-Martin's unique visual vocabulary. As such, they serve to conjure a domestic sense of setting, thus returning the museum to its original function as a home. Text in English and German.‎
