‎Il est l'auteur de nombreuses pièces de théâtre qui furent adaptées au cinéma, (Un tramway nommé Désir, La Chatte sur un toit brûlant, Soudain l'été dernier, Baby Doll etc.). Importante et très rare correspondance à Joseph Losey relative à la réalisation du film « Boom », film dont Elisabeth Taylor et Richard Burton en étaient les principaux acteurs. Joseph Losey (1909-1984) réalisa ce film, qui fut à l'affiche en 1968. ‎

‎Ensemble de 15 lettres dactylographiées signées « Tennessee » ou « Tom » en anglais, dont certaines avec des rajouts autographes. 15 pages in-4 et 1 p. in-8. De juin 1966 à juin 1972. On joint des documents de travail de Joseph Losey (doubles de correspondance à Tennessee Williams, dont certaines avec des notes autographes de Joseph Losey, 8 télégrammes de T. W à J. L. et 3 lettres dactylographiées signées de Patricia Highsmith. Enfin, divers documents propres à la réalisation du film (agent, assistant etc.) On constatera que Sean Connery et Simone Signoret avaient d'abord été pressentis pour jouer dans ce film. Importante et intéressante correspondance riche de détails sur la préparation, l'organisation et la réalisation de ce film. 21 juin 66 : Il se rendra à Positano début juillet, dans la villa où la première idée de « Milk Train » lui est venue. Il commente l'attitude du producteur Persky, en citant G. B. Shaw: « I know you are interested only in art, but I am interested only in money », puis sur la suite que deviendra leur projet : « In show business everything seems impossible till it reaches the limit of impossibility, and then all of a sudden something goes snap, or boom, and things start moving along ». Il donne ensuite des nouvelles (plutôt mauvaises) de Lester. 18 octobre 1966, avec six lignes autographes au crayon. Au sujet du script du film, il termine ainsi sa lettre. « I’m taking my play to the typist today so I'll have just the film-script to ponder ». 19 octobre 1966, avec cinq lignes autographes au crayon. « I met the impresario for dinner, he bringing me a script and I bringing the notes […] There remains a problem of building - upward gradation of climatic bits between Chris and Goforth », (les personnages principaux de "Boom"). Il termine avec un mot d'encouragement en français : « En avant ! ». 31 décembre 1966, avec trois lignes autographes au crayon. « At this end, everything is very much in the air where it has always been ». 26 janvier 1967. « Audrey Wood and my lawyer suggested that they call Bobin Fox and enquire if you would be interrested in co-producing the picture as well as directing it ». 17 février 1967. « I've come to the sensible conclusion that something is pretty wrong with the script as it now is ». 19 février 1967. « If this revision seems right to you, it would replace the bit about the wine-dark sea - a value already exploited in the visual effects of the viale delle cesare ». 15 mai 1967. Il n'est pas en grande forme et parle de sa mère âgée. Sans date. « I love your suggestion that the whole film should contain the sounds of windy, billowing, flapping fabrics ». Il donne des exemples de dialogues. 28 juin 1967. Concerne des modifications du script. 1er septembre 1967. Concerne des variations sur la fin du film. Il donne également des nouvelles de sa nouvelle piscine qu'il espère sans ouragans. 15 juin 1968, avec une ligne autographe au stylo. Concerne la projection de deux versions de « Boom ». 7 septembre 1968, avec quatre lignes autographes au stylo. Il aime le climat californien et il a plus d'un ou deux amis à Los Angeles. Sa mère vient également lui rendre visite. Il parle de Mary Pickford, ivre au point de ne plus tenir debout seule. Evoque le film : « Boom passed through the States as swiftly as the wings of prayer. There is a rumor that it will be given a second run - in neighborhood houses. […] Tony Richardson said to me, once, You may be legally sane, Tennessee, but your life is complet hysteria - a reasonable observation ». 20 janvier 1970. Il regrette de ne pas donner plus de nouvelles mais il a fait un séjour en hôpital psychiatrique. Il parle des deux versions du film et qu'il a adoré la première. « I wondered if that copy of the film still exists and if it could not sometimes be exhibited publicly ». 9 juin 1972. Il donne des nouvelles de sa santé et des nouvelles de sa pièce de théâtre en cours : « How am I is a matter for some discussion. […] I think I can safely say I'm better than when you last saw me. But - all's relative, Joe ». ‎

Brussels, Universal International Pictures, 1947, in-folio album 46 x 32 cm, containing ca. 100 unnumbered leaves, bound in half cloth with marbled boards, title in yellow ink on the front cover. The album contains 40 original photos 175 x 240 mm, documenting the 3 day visit of the French film actress Micheline Presle at the Brussels' Film Festival. It contains further numerous press cuttings on the visit and an even more important section on the film she was coming to present at the Festival '' Le diable au corps'' with Gérard Philippe as the male star ; a movies produced by Claude Autant-Lara after a novel by Raymond Radiguet ( 1903 - 1923). The album contains also some press releases and an invitiation. All the cuttings and photos have been carefully mounted and have printed captions underneath. This unique document was made with great care by Universal Film Brussels and most probably once belonged to their archives. The hugely successfull film was first presented here in Brussels at the famous '' Festival Mondial du Film et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique''. One of the founding fathers of this Festival was P.G. van Hecke , who is also present on one of the photos. (Cinematography ; Belgian Art and Film Festival , Micheline Presle, original photographs ).
