Alexis Espanet, médecin et moine trappiste de l'abbaye d'Aiguebelle, Contraint par sa santé de quitter l’ordre, il poursuivit une carrière médicale brillante, notamment dans le domaine de l’homéopathie dont il fut l’un des spécialistes reconnus. En 1884, il réalisa son vœu le plus cher en réintégrant l’abbaye d’Aiguebelle où, redevenu le P. Muce, il mourut deux ans plus tard.
