It has survived five editions over 11 years and has almost doubled in volume. Compared to previous editions of the book, it contains a welcome addition to the design of the M-1, ZIS-101, ZIS-5, and YaG-6 vehicles, as well as basic information on the design of three-axle vehicles. Evgeny Alexeevich Chudakov (1890-1953) is an engineer, a pioneer of the Soviet automobile industry, the founder and first director of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (1938-1951), an author of scientific papers in the field of automobile engineering and general mechanical engineering, a Stalinist Prize winner, and an academic.
