‎EN GRAND PAPIER AVEC UNE SUITE DE 12 PLANCHES AJOUTÉES. Exemplaire en grand papier vélin de cette nouvelle édition des Oeuvres de Cowper, parue l'année de la mort du poète. L'ouvrage est illustré de 10 planches gravées par Bromley, Neagle, Heath, Angus, Legat, Drayton, Parker et Medland d'après Stothart - cette illustration avait paru pour la première fois dans l'édition collective de 1798. On a en outre relié en début du vol. 1 l'édition originale la série de 12 planches (plus un titre gravé) Cowper illustrated by a Series of Views in or near the Park of Weston-Underwood par Storer et Greig, parue à Londres en 1803 chez Vernor and Hood avec une vie de l'auteur (51 pp.). William Cowper (1731-1800) fait paraître son premier recueil poétique (correspondant au premier volume de la présente édition) en 1782 puis, en 1785, publie The Task, long poème parodique, méditatif, religieux et politique qui occupe le second volume de notre édition. Précurseur du Romantisme en Angleterre, Cowper connaît un grand succès. Jane Austen compte parmi ses admiratrices, et le cite fréquemment dans ses oeuvres. Frottements. Plusieurs feuillets jaunis. ‎The Franciscan William of Ware ? the Magister Scoti ? flourished as a theologian at the end of the thirteenth century. Although he wielded significant influence on fourteenth-century theological and philosophical debates, his thought remains little known and even less studied than it deserves. A major cause for this situation lies in the difficulty of accessing the text of his Questions on the Four Books of the Sentences, which is largely unedited.? This volume is the first entirely devoted to William of Ware. It aims to promote a renewed knowledge of his texts and doctrines. The book includes updated information on studies and editions of Ware's texts, and specific studies on crucial aspects of his doctrines, such as theology, metaphysics, physics, epistemology, Christology, and anthropology.
