Galibert ricostruisce la storia algerina dall'antichità sino alla dominazione francese con esaustivi resoconti sulle varie dominazioni che si avvicendarono nel paese nei secoli: romana, vandala, greco-bizantina, araba, turca, francese. L'opera era composta da due volumi siamo in possesso del primo tomo solamente. All'interno sono presenti 34 (su 36) incisioni colorate coeve che mostrano vedute, scene di battaglie, costumi ecc...
