‎Illustré d'un frontispice dépliant, d'un portrait de Livingstone, de 22 gravures hors-texte, de deux cartes dépliantes et d'un plan géologique dépliants, une dans la poche au second contre-plat, et 20 figures in-texte. Édition originale. "Missionary Travels" est l'un des récits les plus emblématiques de l'exploration africaine au XIXe siècle et le fondement de la légende de Livingstone. Il décrit la première de ses trois grandes expéditions dans lesquelles il suivit le Zambèze, découvrant les chutes Victoria, ainsi que les fleuves Shire et Ruyuma, allant de l’Angola à l’ouest au Mozambique à l’est… Au cours de ces années il a exploré de vastes régions d’Afrique centrale, dont beaucoup n’avaient jamais été vues auparavant par des hommes blancs. On trouve relié à la fin le catalogue des nouveautés de l'éditeur, daté du premier novembre 1857. Très bel exemplaire sans aucune rousseur. ‎
