Édition originale de la traduction française. La première édition italienne a paru à Livorno en 1785. "This journey was made in 1779 with members of the family of Count Ludolf, with whom Sestini travelled extensively as tutor. The Count was ambassador to the Porte from Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Sestini's works are far-ranging and reflect the different stages of his life. He spent the years from 1774 to 1778 in Sicily as librarian/antiquary to Prince Biscari (…) From the middle of 1778 to 1780 he was in the service of Count Ludolf (…) In 1780 he joined the entourage of Robert Ainslie, English ambassador to the Porte, and acted as his numismatist. Ainslie had a very fine collection of coins, which Sestini catalogued (…) The journey described in the Voyage de Constantinople à Bassora was also made while Sestini was in Ainslie's service. The Voyage dans la Grèce Asiatique describes a journey from Brussa to Nicomedia with many details of the archaeology and natural history of this region, including a flora of this part of Asia Minor (the Asian Olympus in Bithynia)".
