Questa piacevole raccolta di storielle, aneddoti, ecc. di gusto umoristico, molto ben illustrata da 40 tavv. incise f.t. (di cui 8 costituiscono le antiporte e le pagine di titolo con vignetta): sono affascinanti invenzioni del celebre caricaturista inglese, tutte finemente colorate a mano.Cfr. Benezit ,IV, p.124: George Cruikshank (1792-1878), dessinateur, illustrateur et graveur, fut trs recherch par les journaux illustrs, et fournit des dessins pour une foule de magazines, entre outre "L'Humoriste et la Vie Londres". Il illustra aussi des ditions spciales de livres populaires, tels que les "Contes de Fes" de Grimm.Bella edizione su carta a mano, in tiratura limitata di 260 copie numerate. Il ns. esempl. con barbe, n. 81, ha 2 pagine del 1 vol. (82 e 83) e tutte le pagg. di risguardo pesantemente ingiallite, come pure le barbe dei volumi, altrimenti ben conservato.

London, W. Kidd, sans date. In-12 de [6]-319 pages, pleine percaline verte ornée d'un décor (vase fleuri) et filets à froid aux deux plats, dos orné d'un encadrement, fleurons et titre dorés, tranches dorées. Petites taches au premier plat, la percaline gondole un peu par endroit, l'intérieur est sans défauts.
Frontispice et 9 hors-texte en noir ainsi que des illustrations in-texte en noir de Robert Cruikshan. Les Cruikshank, une famille de caricaturistes : le père de Robert et son frères furent eux aussi dans cette branche de l'humour.
