Un volume in-folio (39,4 x 29,3 cm), 186 pages, en feuilles, couverture blanche rempliée titrée en bleu sur le premier plat. Emboitage recouvert de soie bleu ciel titré au dos. L'illustration se compose de 10 LITHOGRAPHIES ORIGINALES EN COULEURS ET EN HORS-TEXTE DE ZAO WOU-KI. Un des 20 enrichi de 2 suites signées : UNE SUITE SUR VÉLIN D'ARCHES DES 10 LITHOGRAPHIES ORIGINALES EN COULEURS TOUTES SIGNÉES AU CRAYON PAR L'ARTISTE + UNE SUITE SUR PAPIER JAPON IMPÉRIAL DES 10 LITHOGRAPHIES ORIGINALES EN COULEURS ÉGALEMENT TOUTES SIGNÉES. Note : Seules deux suites des lithographies de Zao Wou-ki pour la Tentation de l'Occident furent imprimées : 20 suites sur vélin d'Arches et 20 sur Japon impérial. Ce sont les seules épreuves signées par l'artiste. - Note historique : La Tentation de l’Occident, paru en 1926 après le voyage en Extrême-Orient de Malraux, se présente sous forme de lettres échangées entre un Chinois voyageant en Europe et un Occidental visitant la Chine. En 1962, Malraux choisit assez logiquement un Chinois vivant à Paris pour illustrer son essai. Le soutien de Malraux, alors ministre des Affaires Culturelles du Général de Gaulle, permit à Zao Wou-Ki d’obtenir deux ans plus tard la nationalité française. Shell-case covered with sky blue silk titled on the back. - 10 ORIGINAL LITHOGRAPHS IN COLOR AND OUT-OF-TEXT BY ZAO WOU-KI.ADDED ONE SIGNED SUITE ON VÉLIN D'ARCHES OF THE 10 ORIGINAL COLOR LITHOGRAPHS ALL SIGNED IN PENCIL BY THE ARTIST + ONE SIGNED SUITE ON IMPERIAL JAPAN PAPER OF THE 10 ORIGINAL COLOR LITHOGRAPHS ALSO ALL SIGNED BY ZAO WOU-KI. Only two suites of Zao Wou-ki's lithographs for "La Tentation de l'Occident" were printed: 20 suites on Arches paper and 20 on Imperial Japan paper. These are the only proofs signed by the artist. - Exceptional copy enriched with these two signed suites brought together here. With a set of type-written letters related to the design and the artistic and editorial choices of the book. - Historical note: "The Temptation of the West", published in 1926 after Malraux's trip to the Far East, takes the form of letters exchanged between a Chinese traveling in Europe and a Westerner visiting China. In 1962, Malraux quite logically chose a Chinese living in Paris to illustrate his essay. The support of Malraux, then Minister of Cultural Affairs under General de Gaulle, enabled Zao Wou-Ki to obtain French nationality two years later. EXTREMELY SCARCE COPY BRINGING TOGETHER THE ILLUSTRATED BOOK OF LITHOGRAPHS AND THE TWO SIGNED SUITES.
Exemplaire exceptionnel enrichi de deux suites signées réunies ici. Joint un ensemble de lettres tapuscrites en relation avec la conception et les choix artistiques et éditoriaux de l'ouvrage. Zao Wou-ki: L'oeuvre gravé et imprimé (1949-2008).
<meta charset="utf-8"><span data-mce-fragment="1">Peintre né en Chine en 1920, Zao Wou-Ki s’installe à Paris en 1948 où il s’impose comme l’un des représentants majeurs de la nouvelle École de Paris. Figure illustre de l’abstraction lyrique, sa renommée internationale ne cesse de croître pendant plus de 60 ans.</span><br data-mce-fragment="1"><span data-mce-fragment="1">Dès 1949, parallèlement à la peinture, Zao Wou-Ki pratique l’estampe. Il expérimente et maîtrise rapidement les diverses techniques; la lithographie qu’il découvre dans l’atelier Desjobert, la pointe sèche, l’eau-forte sur zinc, exécutant lui-même les planches dans l’atelier Lacourière et Frélaut.</span><br data-mce-fragment="1"><span data-mce-fragment="1">Après le don d’une encre, suite à une première exposition qui lui était dédiée en 2008, L</span><em data-mce-fragment="1">’encre, l’eau, l’air, la couleur, Encres de Chine et aquarelles 1954-200</em><span data-mce-fragment="1">, puis l’importante donation de Madame Françoise Marquet-Zao de la collection personnelle du peintre Zao Wou-Ki, composée de 90 œuvres de ses amis artistes, Alechinsky, Hartung, Mathieu, Michaux, Mitchell, Soulages, Viera da Silva… présentée en 2016,</span><em data-mce-fragment="1"><span data-mce-fragment="1"></span>L’homme des deux rives, Zao Wou-Ki collectionneur</em><span data-mce-fragment="1">, la veuve de l’artiste offre aujourd’hui un fonds rétrospectif exceptionnel de 353 estampes et 27 livres de bibliophilie réalisés par Zao Wou-Ki.</span><br data-mce-fragment="1"><span data-mce-fragment="1">Cet ensemble d’estampes, reflet de sa peinture, permet d’appréhender pleinement son œuvre.</span> Paris, 2023 LienArt 176 p., illustré, cartonnage éditeur. 23 x 27
