Edition originale de Jean Paulhan , illustrée par Jean Fautrier de 27 compositions gravées selon des techniques différentes souvent associées (eau-forte, lithographie, xylographie, héliogravure, aquatinte), dont une eau-forte pour la couverture (dont il existe trois versions différentes) un frontispice lithographié, un titre gravé, 24 compositions in texte et 5 reproductions en lithographie vernies hors texte. Tirage limité à 218 exemplaires. Un des 204 exemplaires numérotés sur vélin. Chemise et étui très légèrement défraichis sinon bel exemplaire. In-folio, Loose as isued under illustrated wrappers, chemise and slipcase. Original edition illustrated with 27 prints by Jean Fautrier : twenty etchings (twelve with aquatint, one with heliogravure, and one with heliogravure and aquatint), one heliogravure, two zincographs, one woodcut, one aquatint wrapper, and eight reproductions Limited edition of 218 copies. One of the 204 numbered on vélin du Marais. The most important illustrated book by Fautrier. (Mason 227 - 260) . Literary collaborations played an important part in Fautrier's printmaking and throughout his career he worked on a number of projects for books. One of these was Jean Paulhan's text Fautrier l'enragé, published in September 1949 in an edition of 250, for which Fautrier provided forty-eight images including 'The Executed' and 'Oradour'. Paulhan's text for Fautrier l'enragé is a eulogy of Fautrier's work and the prints serve not as illustrations, but as examples of the artist's oeuvre. Most of the images date from between 1946 (when the project appears to have been conceived) and 1948, and were printed on Fautrier's own press at Châtenay. In addition to these, Fautrier included the three earlier images which Mason has suggested are those which Frénaud intended to use in his unrealised book, 'The Executed', 'Oradour' and 'Les Otages' (repr. Mason 1986, p.127 no.254). As with 'Oradour' and 'The Executed', this last includes mask-like faces, suggesting the anonymous victims of wartime brutality. Of the other prints provided by Fautrier for Fautrier l'enragé, some derive from the 'Otage' series, while others are depictions of cadavers and truncated bodies.

P., Auguste Blaizot 1949 In-folio, couverture illustrée rempliée, chemise et étui terni, petit accroc en pied, non coupé, 48 pp. Six lithographies originales hors-texte en couleurs, trois heliogravures, une xylographie originale en couleurs, et 20 eaux-fortes dans le texte dont 17 en couleurs dessinees par Paul Bonet.
Edition originale tirée à 250 exemplaires num., celui-ci sur Marais contenant cinq reproductions en couleurs et une eau-forte hors-texte. La typographie est de Durand, les cinq reproductions sont de Mourlot. Les vingt-trois eaux-fortes in-texte, les deux lithographies et le bois ont été tirés sur les presses de Fautrier à Chatenay. Un livre magistral, le plus important illustré par Fautrier. Rare et recherché. Bon état d’occasion

Blaizot, Paris 1949. Volume grand in-folio (52 x 38,5 cm) en feuilles sous couverture rempliée, entièrement lithographiée, imprimée en bleu-vert, chemise-étui de l'éditeur. Édition originale. Le titre est illustré d'un frontispice gravé en couleurs et tiré sur Japon ancien pelure. Le texte génial de Paulhan est illustré de 23 EAUX-FORTES EN NOIR ET EN COULEURS, 1 lithographie, 1 bois in-texte et 6 REPRODUCTIONS VERNIES tirées par Fernand Mourlot. Édition : 250 exemplaires, celui-ci n° 159 sur vélin du Marais. Bien complet. (Mason 227-260).
Monumental ouvrage édité par Auguste Blaizot en 1949 à la gloire de l'art de Jean Fautrier. Très riche illustration originale. Rare exemplaire à l'état de neuf ! Une planche présente quelques taches marginales. Provenance ancienne collection F. Mourlot.
