In the first and second centuries CE, oral and written traditions about the life of Jesus proliferated and formed the basis for written narratives. The authors of the gospels received and redacted those traditions to make distinctive theological claims about Jesus and to address their specific milieu and the wider movement of Jesus-followers. ‎Summary It is generally accepted that the Greek translation of the Pentateuch was undertaken in Egypt, in the 3rd century BCE. Then, it is only logical that the translators and the translation itself were influenced by the environment the translation took place in, by its languages, its usages and beliefs. Nevertheless, previous scholarly endeavours only partially address the issue of these contextual influences on the Greek translation. Although some valid attempts to uncover echoes of the Egyptian environment in the Septuagint translation have been made in the past century, no systematic study had been produced. In the wake of a renewed interest for Egyptian features in the Septuagint translation, the present volume aims at offering the first systematic study on Egyptian influences in the first three books of the Pentateuch: Genesis, Exodus, and Leviticus. An accurate analysis of various translational choices reflected in lexical elements which have been influenced by the Egyptian milieu such as proper names, toponyms, geographical images, job titles, weights and measures, animal names, realia, and theological accents demonstrates to what extent the translators were acquainted with the environment they lived in. Examining this phenomenon, which might initially appear marginal, reveals itself to be a pressing issue in the emerging trends of Septuagint studies. ‎Jan Jacob Schoonhoven (26 juni 1914-31 juli 1994) is een van de Nederlandse kunstenaars, die in de tweede helft van de 20-ste eeuw, in Nederland het gezicht van de beeldende kunst in hoge mate mede bepaald hebben. Ook internationaal had hij over succes geenszins te klagen. Het is daarom ook niet vreemd, dat hij tot op heden over de hele wereld tentoonstellingen heeft gehad en dat er een enorme hoeveelheid aan publicaties over de magere, bebrilde man met de zo typerende lichtbruine houtje touwtje jas en zijn werk is verschenen. Toch is dit nieuwe boek het eerste en enige in zijn soort. Vrijwel altijd handelen dergelijke geschriften namelijk uitsluitend over de reliefs en tekeningen van Jan Schoonhoven en gaan ze niet in op de grafiek, de edities die hij in de loop der tijd allemaal heeft uitgebracht. Vooral de laatste dertig jaar van zijn leven, werden maar liefst zo'n 70 bladen uitgegeven. Jan Schoonhoven was evenwel zelf helemaal geen graficus. Hij had ook geen opleiding daartoe gevolgd (wel beschikte hij over de akte MO-tekenen). Het tot stand brengen van de uiteindelijke producten liet hij over aan vakbekwame assistenten, die de (werk-)tekeningen overzetten naar litho's, zeef- of reliefdrukken. Het werk in oplage van Jan Schoonhoven is voor het eerst volledig beschreven en geillustreerd in deze uitgave De catalogus wordt voorafgegaan door een essay in Nederlands, Engels en Duits. Het boek is voor verzamelaars, kunsthistorici, kunsthandelaren en experts een waardevol naslagwerk, dat een lacune opvult in de bestaande literatuur over Jan J. Schoonhoven. ‎

‎David de Planis, dit CAMPY d'Edelphe était le médecin chirurgien attitré de Louis XIII, sa pensée originale le situe nettement dans le camp des hermétistes, inspiré par Paracelse il prétendait que les astres influaient sur l'évolution de certaines maladies. Bien que refusant le titre d'astrologue, il pratiquait manifestement la physique occulte dans la résolution des maux de ses patients, il fut le grand rival d'Ambroise Paré. Très rare, certains exemplaires possèdent un frontispice absent ici, mais complet du beau portrait de l'auteur placé en regard de la préface. ‎
