<p><meta charset="utf-8"><span>Souvent qualifié de « fauve méditerranéen », Charles Camoin (1879-1965) s'est inscrit, par ses liens avec Paris et la bohème montmartroise, dans le cercle de l'avant-garde internationale. Affilié au fauvisme, lié à Matisse, Marquet et Manguin, il n'a pour autant jamais renoncé à son indépendance artistique : « En tant que coloriste, j'ai toujours été et suis encore un fauve en liberté ». Cet ouvrage permet de redécouvrir l'oeuvre du peintre en intégrant une centaine de tableaux et dessins, dont certains inédits. Il approfondit différents épisodes historiques et thématiques de la vie de l'artiste et analyse l'évolution de son langage pictural, fondé sur la sensation colorée.
